The front-page article (Feb. 23) about bogus service dogs does not go far enough in admonishing the it’s-all-about-me types who discredit the legitimate service dog.
As a dog trainer and someone who volunteers to train service dogs for veterans with PTSD, I am able to see the discrimination and ignorance that the public has about the subject of service dogs.
The fact is that legitimate service dogs are saving the lives of veterans and civilians.
Business owners have rights, too. If a service dog is disrupting normal business, the owner has the right to ask the dog and handler to leave.
The fact that anyone can purchase fake documents to pass their untrained pet as a service dog is disgusting. There needs to be a national registry and photo ID that would keep the selfish fakes at bay.
