In 1978, I ran for mayor of Auburn. I traveled to the farthest corners of the city. As a result, I know how large Auburn is. It is more than 60 square miles. To merge Lewiston and Auburn would create a city much too large in area. To have just seven wards is a looney idea.
Also, a merger would bring the loss of the flavor and characteristics of both cities.
I have been a citizen of Lewiston for the past 9 years and don’t care or want to live in a merged metropolis.
