POLAND SPRING — Scott Edwards, a hometown hero and well-known Poland Spring employee, was one of four employees to receive the Nestle Waters North America President’s Award in January.

It was presented by Tim Brown, CEO and president of Nestle Waters North America. The award recognizes Edwards’ commitment to his local community, dedication to Poland Spring and his genuine personality, as noted by many of those who nominated him.

Edwards, a Harrison resident, is recognized locally for his participation in Camp Sunshine, a recreational camp for children facing life-threatening illnesses, and for taking part in the Wreaths Across America convoy in 2014, hauling 3,600 wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery to lay on the graves of military veterans.

He was hailed as a hero when he used his quick thinking at a New Gloucester house fire by contributing the water from his Poland Spring tanker to aid firefighting efforts. In recognition of that action, Rep. Ellie Espling, R-New Gloucester, presented Edwards with a Legislative Sentiment from the Maine House of Representatives.

Edwards has been a member of the Poland Spring family for 22 years, and has driven more than 1 million accident-free miles as a Poland Spring tanker driver.

The President’s Award is presented annually to recognize some of the company’s hardest-working employees who exemplify the best of what Nestle stands for, both on the job and in their communities.
