PERU – The Friends of Peru Elementary School and the Peru Baptist Church will host a benefit supper Saturday, Feb. 20, for Wayne and Adelia Thurston, who lost their home in a fire in January.
The couple owns Thurston Family Farm on Mineral Springs Road.
The spaghetti supper will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. downstairs in the Peru Community Center. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 10. The church will set up a dessert room.
There will be a Chinese auction including gift baskets, gift certificates and handcrafted items. Denny Moreau and other special guests will perform music upstairs in the community center’s library.
“It’s also a place for people to socialize,” said Yvonne Allen, a member of the Friends of Peru Elementary School.
The two sponsoring groups invited Glen Tompkins of Glen’s Country Wood Crafts to raffle a folding Adirondack chair during the dinner. Raffle tickets can be purchased by calling Janet Rowley at 357-4573, or Tammie Lyons at 357-6006.
