SALEM, N.H. — In his eighth game with the Lewiston/Auburn Fighting Spirit, Kyle Secor scored his first three goals with the club en route to the 6-2 victory over the East Coast Minuteman on Friday afternoon.
The 18-year-old forward out of Columbus, Ohio, spent the first half of the 2015-16 season with the Daytona Racers of the United States Premier 3 Hockey League where he had five goals and 17 assists in 25 games.
After the Minutemaan jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Jon Mathieu, the Fighting Spirit scored three times in the second. Thomas Puetz tied the game while Secor notch his first goal of the afternoon to give L/A the 2-1 lead. Brett Bittner scored with 48 seconds left in the second period.
Colby Siering stretched the lead to 4-1 early in the third period.
Mason Smith scored on the power play for East Coast before Secor finished off his hat trick with the final two goals of the game.
Alexander Friend and Daniel Heffernan assisted on each of Secor’s goals.
Marcus Mitchell earned the win in goal for the Fighting Spirit while Aidan Critchlow took the loss for the Minuteman.
The Fighting Spirit heads to Cape Cod to face the Islanders for a 2:30 p.m. puck drop on Saturday.
