Aubiston or Lewburn?
Gov. Paul LePage wants the Twin Cities to merge. Lewiston’s Mayor Bob Macdonald couldn’t agree fast enough. Auburn Mayor Jonathan Labonte isn’t convinced. He knows Lewiston’s situation and, in my opinion, really doesn’t want any part of it.
Lewiston really doesn’t need a Public Works director, a deputy director, an operations manager and several foremen for just a handful of employees. Way too top-heavy management is costing the taxpayers of Lewiston a ridiculous amount of money.
City vehicles are still being taken home. Most of the Public Works personnel are veteran employees and shouldn’t have to be babysat on plowing and sanding operations. The employees know what to do.
As a taxpayer, I have more faith in the operator than the supervisor riding around just to rack up overtime.
Anyway, that’s my opinion.
Auburn, stay on your side of the river and you’ll be fine.
Bob Pelletier, Lewiston
