Mystery Photo for January 17, 2016

Last week’s mystery photo of the cutouts on the side of Gee & Bee Sports Inc. on Mt. Auburn Ave. in Auburn inspired many entrants to tell us about how they have purchased sporting equipment at the longtime retailer for many years. When Nicholas Gallant of Roxbury was contacted to inform him that he was the winner, he said he played sports for many years and always traveled to Auburn to buy his equipment, so he easily recognized where the photo was taken. When Gee & Bee owner Sandy Heldman was asked about the cutouts, he said that he couldn’t remember who made them, but they had been on the side of the building for about 16 years. Heldman mentioned that “I was in Roxbury looking for furniture this past weekend and the owner of the store pulled out the newspaper and showed me the photo. He said his son had called in to enter the contest.” It turns out that the owner’s son just happened to be chosen as the winner and will receive a $10 Subway gift card.
