LEWISTON — The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center will host weeknight French classes for adults beginning Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 19 and 20.
Two different classes will run during a 10-week session from January to March. The beginners class will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, and French Reacq for advanced learners will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.
The beginners class is intended for those who are new learners or those who have limited knowledge of French. French Reacq is for those who already have some proficiency with the language but would like to improve.
Varied topics will be used as a guide to help with speaking. The pace is relaxed and class is taught in French with English explanations as needed. Students are asked to bring a binder or folder and something to write with to class.
The instructor will be Vanessa Stasse. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, to Belgian parents, she has a master’s degree in anthropology from Laval University in Quebec City and has lived in Maine for over 10 years, teaching French, yoga and interpreting in French, English and Portuguese.
Classes will take place in Heritage Hall at the center. The total cost for the 10 classes is $100. The Franco Center requires a minimum of eight people a session for each class. If that threshold is not met, full refunds will be issued to those who have already registered and paid.
To register, call 207-783-1585 or email jjacques@francocenter.org.
To register by mail, send contact information and payment to Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, ME 04240 Attn: Adult French Classes.
