BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust has announced its schedule of speakers for its “Into the Woods” series.
It features presentation from people who work in the forests of Maine.
Land Trust member Jolan Ippolito said the series will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, with a presentation on trail-building by Ryder Scott and Gabe Perkins, who work with the Oxford County Conservation Corps. The two will talk about the proper way to build trails.
The presentation will be held in McLaughlin Auditorium at Gould Academy in Bethel.
Other presentations include:
* Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Shelburne, N.H., Town Hall — Garret Bonnema will share his experience hiking the 49 peaks of the White Mountains.
* March 16 at McLaughlin Auditorium, Bethel — Chris O’Brien of the U.S. Forest Service will talk about managed burns in forests.
* April 27 at McLaughlin Auditorium, Bethel — Mahoosuc Mountain Rescue Team.
* May 18 at Andover — Game Warden Brock Clukey will speak about his experiences on the job.
* June 15 at Andover — Darlene Akers will speak about healing plants that can be found in the woods. The talk will be held in her barn.
* July 20 at the Albany Town Hall — Chuck Hulsey, a regional biologist with the state of Maine, will speak about managing deer yards.
* Sept. 21 — Amanda Moran will speak about mushroom-hunting.
