AUBURN — Firefighters made quick work of a fire Thursday at Globe Footwear in the Auburn-Lewiston Airpark Industrial Park.

The fire reportedly started in a fan at the Wrights Landing factory just after 2:30 p.m. and spread to a corner of the building. Within minutes of arrival, firefighters had the blaze under control. The cause was being investigated later in the day.

“At about 2:40 p.m., one of our managers saw flames and smoke coming out of a dust collection unit on the outside of the building and all 55 employees were evacuated safely,” he wrote. “No one required medical assistance. Damage to the building is being assessed but appears to be minimal. We anticipate being able to resume most operations tomorrow.”
