1959 – 2016

CARTHAGE — Michael A. McArthur, 56, died at his residence in Carthage on Saturday, Jan. 2.

He was born Dec. 8, 1959 in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of James and Ingrid (Mast) McArthur, and was a graduate of Rumford High School.

Michael had been employed as an iron worker for many years for many companies throughout the United States, including Daniels Construction Co.

He was a member of the FOE, VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Porter and husband, Isak; grandson Mack Porter of Bangor; father, James McArthur and wife, Georgieanna, of Poland Spring; stepbrother, Brian Harmon and wife, Jody, of Farmington; stepsister, Karen Harmon of Lewiston; close friend, Jennifer Lloyd of Dixfield; his beloved cats, “Zippy” and “Stinka Bell.”

He was predeceased by his mother, Ingrid McArthur; and stepbrother, Michael Harmon.
