STRONG — An Avon man faces numerous charges after Maine State Police responded to an accident Tuesday on Route 4.
When Trooper Randy Hall arrived on scene he saw that the 2006 Toyota Tacoma was about 70 feet off the road with major damage to the front end, Hall said Thursday.
Hall learned the driver, John McCarter, 28, was on bail conditions for an aggravated domestic violence assault charge with search conditions for drugs and weapons, Hall said.
He was also advised that McCarter had walked about 5 miles to his place of work to use the phone.
“Speed was a factor” in the crash, Hall said.
The Fire Department told Hall that the truck was sparking when they arrived.
A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia.
McCarter was arrested at the Country Delight in Avon, Hall said.
He was charged with violation of conditions of release, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to report an accident by quickest means and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
Franklin County Judge Charles Dow set McCarter’s bail at $100 on Wednesday.
