BRUNSWICK — Tyler Halls scored the tying and winning goal Monday to lift the boys’ hockey team from Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse to a 5-4 win over the club from South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete.

Halls also had an assists with his two goals. Tyler Lacascio had two assists. Mark Abreau, Nick Austin and Noah Austin also scored for the Eagles. Cade Charron made 17 saves in net to earn his first varsity win.

The Red Riots got a goal and two assists from Cam Gillies. Aidan Schifano scored a pair. Joe Grant made 30 saves in goal.

Boys’ basketall

Carrabec 56, Oak Hill 44

NORTH ANSON — Carrabec won its first game of the season with a 56-44 win over Oak Hill in boys’ basketball Monday.

Dustin Crawford led the Cobras (1-5) with 22 points. Hunter Fernald added 11 while Evan Holzworth had 10. Oak Hill (2-4) got 13 from Dalton Therrien and 10 from Connor Elwell.

Carrabec opened a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and held a 27-22 lead at the half. The Cobras opened the lead in the third, outscoring the Raiders 15-7.

Wiscasset 73, Mt. Abram 34

WISCASSET — Wiscasset built a 16-9 lead in the first quarter and were up by as many as 14 points by halftime as the Wolverines remained unbeaten with a 73-34 win over Mt. Abram.

Wiscasset improves to 7-0 with the win while Mt. Abram fell to 1-6.

Dan Luce led the Roadrunners with 16 points.

Girls’ basketball

Wiscasset 44, Mt. Abram 28

WISCASSET — Hayhlee Craig scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Wiscasset to a 44-28 win over Mt. Abram in girls’ basketball Monday.

Colleen Hendricks added nine for the Wolverines (3-4), while Lindsey Gordon had eight. Mt. Abram (1-6) got eight from Summer Ross and five from Marya Beedy.

Wiscasset opened a 12-4 lead in the first quarter and were up 25-14 at the half. The Wolverines maintained the lead in the second half, even outscoring the Roadrunners 3-1 in the fourth quarter.

SVC 67, Bates 63

LEWISTON — Nate Goldsmith scored 17 points off the bench, including seven over the final two minutes, to lead Southern Vermont College to a 67-63 non-conference victory over the Bates College men’s basketball team Monday night in Alumni Gymnasium.

Goldsmith scored 13 of his points and grabbed seven of his team-high eight rebounds in the second period. Daemond Carter scored nine of his 12 points in the second half and Josh Borders added 10 points for Southern Vermont.

The Mountaineers (8-2), who finished 25-4 last season but were not chosen to play in the NCAA Tournament, won their seventh straight game. Their win avenges a 72-67 home loss to Bates last season on Jan. 3.

Bates (4-4) shot season lows of 30.4 percent (21-69) from the field and 11.1 percent (2-18) from behind the arc in suffering its second straight loss.

Marcus Delpeche scored a game- and season-high 21 points for the Bobcats, to go with his nine rebounds. Mike Newton scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench, while Malcolm Delpeche and Mike Boornazian added 12 and 11 points apiece.

Women’s basketball

Purdue 56, Maine 33

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Maine women’s basketball team dropped a 56-33 decision at Purdue on Monday evening. The loss slips Maine back to 9-5 while Purdue improves to 9-2.

Sigi Koizar tallied nine points to lead the Black Bears, while Bella Swan added eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Mikaela Gustafsson also added eight points.

Maine, which came in averaging a league-high 6.7 three-point makes per game, went 1-for-15 from beyond the arc and finished the game 15-for-48 from the field (31.3%).

The Boilermakers, who finished the game at 48.1 percent from the floor, were led by Bridget Perry and April Wilson who each tallied 10 points.
