LOS ANGELES (WGME) — According to CBS News, a Mainer is being subpoenaed in connection to the threat that shutdown LA schools earlier this week.
According to CBS News, 21-year-old Vincent Canfield owns the server the threatening emails were sent through.
Canfield says he received a subpoena from Clark County Las Vegas Schools as well as the New York City Police Department.
Canfield says he is consulting with an attorney who represented Edward Snowden as he considers whether to comply with the subpoenas.
Canfield told CBS News he knows the threatening emails came from his server. The native of Maine says he could pinpoint where the emails came from through the IP address used to register the account.
According to CBS News, he has not complied with the subpoenas because he says revealing details about the emails would violate his company’s privacy policy.
Canfield says he is based in Romania but he has only lived there for about a week and a half. He would not comment on whether he moved to evade U.S. laws, according to CBS News.
