PORTLAND — Two former tourney rivals met again at the Portland Expo Thursday, and the Lewiston girls’ basketball team came away with its second straight win, beating Portland 65-46.
It was not only the second straight win for the Blue Devils but the third victory in the last four outings for Lewiston. Lewiston erupted for 20 points in the third quarter to open the lead for good against the Bulldogs. It was Portland that Lewiston beat for the regional title back in 1999, when Lewiston coach Lynn Girouard was standout guard on the club. Regular meetings between the two schools have ceased since Lewiston moved to the KVAC.
Victoria Harris led the Blue Devils (3-2) with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Kristina Blais tallied 14 points and Morgan Eliasen added 10.
Taylor Sargent led Portland (0-4) with 13 points while Margaret Hatch added eight.
Lewiston built a 10-8 lead in the first quarter and expanded that to 27-19 at the half. The Blue Devils opened the lead for good in the third, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-9.
St. Dom’s 36, Winthrop 26
WINTHROP — St. Dom’s used a 17-2 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 36-26 victory over Winthrop in an MVC girls’ basketball tilt Thursday.
Chloe Dwinell and Caroline Gastonguay led the Saints (3-2) with 11 points each, while Allie Veinote chipped in with six.
The Ramblers (0-5) were paced by Adlin Chaparin with a 10-point performance, while Katie Perkins added six.
Lincoln Academy 34, Gray-New Gloucester 33
NEWCASTLE — Brie Wajer netted a short jumper with three minutes left in regulation to give Lincoln a 34-33 win over Gray-New Gloucester Thursday.
Weajer led Lincoln (4-1) with 14 points, while Avae Traina chipped in with six. The Patriots (4-1) were paced by Skye Conley with a solid 10-point effort, while Grace Kariotis and Ashley Jordan each added six.

Lincoln Academy 63, Gray-New Gloucester 53
GRAY — Taylor Holmes scored 23 points Thursday to lead Lincoln Academy to a 63-53 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action.
Cody Tozier chipped in for Lincoln (1-4) with 12 points, while Cole Leeman added eight. The Patriots (1-4) were paced by Zack Haskell with 20 points, while Jonathan Martin and Kyle Keenan each added 10.
Telstar 53, Oak Hill 45
WALES — Telstar went on a 17-9 tear in the final frame Thursday to pull away for a 53-45 MVC victory over Oak Hill.
Tanner Wheeler led the Rebels (2-4) with 23 points, while Avery Griffin chipped in with 10.
The Raiders (2-4) were led by Dalton Therrien with 14 points, while Connor Elwell added nine.
Buckfield 62, Forest Hills 51
BUCKFIELD — Jake Kraske ignited a 23-16 run in the third quarter that allowed Buckfield to pull away for a 62-51 EWC victory over Forest Hills Thursday.
Kraske finished with 17 points for the Bucks (2-3) , including 10 in that key third stanza. Ethan Jackson chipped in with 11 points, while Aaron Rowe added 10.
Winthrop 80, St. Dom’s 20
WINTHROP — After sprinting out to a 24-point advantage in the first frame, Winthrop never eased off the gas and sped away to record a 80-20 rout over St. Dom’s in KVAC boys’ action Thursday.
Jacob Hickey led the Ramblers with 20 points, while Anthony Owens and Cameron Wood each added 10.
The Saints were paced by Sam Rines with a solid eight-point effort, while Camden Jalbert chipped in with four.
Kennebunk 55, Leavitt 52
KENNEBUNK — Down by 10 with 5:30 remaining, the Kennebunk Rams roared back for the 55-52 victory over the Leavitt Hornets in girls’ basketball action.
The Ram’s (3-1) Gabby Fogg hit two of her six 3-pointers down the stretch as she led all scorers with 25 points. Stephanie Sullivan hit one of her two 3-pointers in the final minutes. She finished the game with eight points. Sierra Torte hit four key free-throws in the final quarter. She finished the game with nine free throws in the game and added a bucket for 11 toal points. Olivia Sandford and Madi Lux each had nine rebounds in the victory. Leavitt (2-3) was led by Sophia Gilbert who had 18 points while Elizabeth Goulette finished the game with 10 points.
Boys’ hockey
St. Dom’s 3, Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale
Hallowell — Reese Farrell recorded the game-winner with 5:11 remaining in the game as the St. Dominic Academy Saints (1-2) earned their first win of the season in the 3-2 victory over Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale in boys’ hockey.
It was the freshmen’s first career goal. Mack Pelletier and Austin Roy also scored for the Saints.
