AUBURN — Therapist Luanne Rhoades will speak at a meeting of the Androscoggin Chapter of the Maine Women’s Network on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Riverwatch Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. The lunch will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. Members, guests and the general public are invited.
Rhoades, LCPC, LADC, CCS, is outpatient therapy director at Health Affiliates Maine. She will discuss depression and how it can affect business owners, especially in the winter.
There are many factors that can contribute to symptoms of depression in women, different from what men experience. Rhoades will look at the hormonal, emotional and social causes of depression in women, including seasonal affective disorder during the winter. This presentation will discuss ways women can assist themselves, and those they care about, when experiencing depression and the “cement shoes” feeling it can cause.
The cost, $17 for members and $21 for nonmembers, includes everything. Nonmembers are always welcome. Online preregistration is required by Jan. 18.
