FARMINGTON — A Strong man accused in November of failing to report a crash by quickest means has now been charged with operating under the influence.

Wesley Adams, 25, was issued a summons for operating under the influence Sunday by Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV, according to a news release on Sunday.

Hastings received a toxicology report from the Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory on Thursday indicating that Adams’ blood alcohol level at the time of the crash exceeded the legal limit, Hastings said in the release.

Adams was previously issued a summons on a charge of failing to report a crash by quickest means.

Adams was involved in a motor vehicle crash Nov. 23 on Knowlton Corner Road. Adams apparently lost control of the Subaru he was driving and the car went over the embankment, through woods and ruined some trees in the process, Farmington police Secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said previously.

The air bags in the car also deployed.

When Hastings responded to the accident, he found a car but no driver.
Information inside the car indicated Adams was the owner. He was found at a Chesterville residence.

Adams told police the last thing he remembered was going off the road into a soft shoulder, Pomeroy had said at the time. He told police that he walked from the scene of the accident to the residence and that he was not hurt.

Adams is scheduled to appear in court in Farmington on Jan. 26 for both charges.
