FARMINGTON — The Board of Selectmen agreed Tuesday to accept applications for an interim seat on the Regional School Unit 9 board and appoint a director at its Dec. 22 meeting.
The seat became available after Yvette Robinson resigned because her family is moving to Wilton.
The board will appoint someone to complete her term, which expires in 2016, Town Manager Richard Davis said.
Under state law, selectmen can appoint a resident to the position until the next election in 2016. An election will take place prior to the annual town meeting in March to fill the seat for a three-year term.
Two residents, Douglas Dunlap and Scott Erb, who were both interested in an interim seat when Claire Andrews resigned earlier this year, have expressed interest in completing Robinson’s term, Davis said. A third resident, Judith Murphy, is also interested, he said.
Anyone who would like to be considered for the appointment may fill out an application prior to the Dec. 22 meeting. Applications are available at the Town Office or online at www.farmington-maine.org.
