Promising newcomers: Boys: Juniors — Sam Wilkinson; Sophomores — Connor Firth, Vincent Scott (Winthrop); Freshmen — Bryce Trefethen, Tate Mendall; Girls: Juniors — Brielle Bondeson; Freshmen — Madelyn Dwyer, Emily Gerencer (St. Dom’s).
Season outlook: The Maranacook boys’ team lost Ethan Harriman, who was first and second in the state championship meets last year, and Colby Watts, but the Black Bears return five other skiers with state meet experience. They are led by Luca DeAngelis, who finished second and fifth in the state championship meets last year, but will need to have other returning skiers and some of the newcomers step up, as well. The Maranacook girls’ team has tremendous depth, but will need to develop more skiers at the top to challenge at the state level.
