JAY — A Livermore Falls man was charged Monday with breaking three windows at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in September, police said.

Detective Michael Mejia said he issued a summons to Khyle Whittemore, 23, on a felony charge of aggravated criminal mischief. A conviction carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Damage was estimated to be over $5,000, Mejia said.

In early September, a rock was thrown through a large, circular, stained-glass window in the back center of the church. Parishioners referred to it as “the rose stained-glass window,” believed to have been installed in 1949.

About a week later a brick was thrown through a back office window in the rectory. And a rock was thrown through a second window in the back of the church at another time in September.
