Mt. Abram boys’ basketball enters the MVC season with its third different coach in the past three seasons, but he isn’t new to the program.

James Barker is a 2011 graduate who was one of the top players in the league his senior year for the Roadrunners. His youthful enthusiasm and a good group of returning players give Mt. Abram hope of upward mobility after a rough stretch.

Luke Romanoski and Hunter York lead a group of five Roadrunners who saw consistent minutes in 2014-15. The catch is that none of them are taller than 6-foot-1, so Mt. Abram will need to shoot the ball efficiently and take advantage of its quickness and defensive pressure. Mt. Abram will try to out-hustle opponents and create points with that mayhem.

As with any new coach, how the Roadrunners adapt to a new system and new terminology likely will spell their level of success in a tough division. Much of the Roadrunners ‘ size is new to varsity and will be coming off the bench. That development also will play a role in whether or not Mt. Abram fulfills its playoff aspirations.
