1942 – 2014

LEEDS — Wayne Sturtevant, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, restaurateur (former owner of the Snack Shack in Auburn), carpenter and handyman, passed away peacefully, on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Leeds, surrounded by his family. He was 72.

Wayne was born in Auburn on Feb. 19,1942, to Rose and Clayton Sturtevant. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960. In 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Haley and they raised five children together. After a divorced in 1982, they remained lifelong friends. In 1992 he moved to Grove City, Ohio, where he married his soul mate, Carol Haag Bartram, who passed away on May 24, 1999.

Wayne lived in Ohio ever since, starting a small business as a cabinetmaker and handyman. After a brief illness, it was his wish to return Maine to be with his family for Thanksgiving last year. Wayne will be remembered for his witty Maine humor, kindness and his generosity. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, canoe, camp and hike.

He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Chadbourne, her husband, John, and their daughters, Lindsey Sawyer-Brown and Melissa Brewer; daughter, Bohnny Wiedemann, her husband, Scott, and their son, Max; son, Kevin Sturtevant, his wife, Coreen, and their children, Emilee, Olivia, Amelia, Wesley and Zane; daughter, Lori Richardson, her husband, Dennis, and their children, Ryan, Tyler, Aaron and Ashley; son, Craig Sturtevant, his wife, Ashley, and their children, Kyla, Kody, Annabeth, Nella and Xavier; brother-in law, Donald Haley and wife, Kathy. Wayne also had five great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Gerald; sister, Lois; and his wife, Carol.

May his memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
