SACO (WGME)  — A woman who pleaded guilty to a random stabbing death in a supermarket was sentenced to life in prison Monday.

Police charged Connor MacCalister with killing 59-year-old Wendy Boudreau at a Shaw’s supermarket in Saco last summer. She entered her guilty plea in October over the objection of her lawyer and is due back in court on Monday afternoon.

A police affidavit states that MacCalister told police she was angry with life and had gone to the store to kill “several random people.” Court records also state that MacCalister said she was “off (her) meds” at the time of the stabbing.

MacCalister is a transgender man formerly known as Tanisha Hopkins. She asked to be referred to as a woman during her most recent court appearance.
