FARMINGTON — The Elks National Hoop Shoot program is funded by the Elks National Foundation. The Hoop Shoot program is the largest non-profit youth activity in the country with two million kids participating this year.
Farmington Elks hoopsters will be competing at the Dearborn gym on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. Sign up and warm ups start at 8:30 a.m. and the competition is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The program is for boys and girls ages 8-13. It is an opportunity to compete, connect, and succeed.
For more information, call chairperson Louis Webster at 645-2336 or call Farmington Lodge #2430 at 778-6761. Winners of the local competition will then advance to the regional competition on Jan. 10, 2016 at Madison Elementary School, 43 Learners Lane, Madison.
Regional winners will then advance to the State Competition to be held at Bangor High School on Jan. 31, 2016. All State winners will then advance to the New England Competition to be held in Portland, ME on March 18 and 19, 2016. All new England finalists will then compete nationally in Chicago, Ill. on April 15 and 16, 2016.
All National champs will be inscribed in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Maine has two winners there.
