CANTON — The Canton Fire Department Auxiliary will bring back its popular wreath sale for the third consecutive year, President Katie Gallant said Monday afternoon.
The sale will be Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28 and 29, and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, she said.
Gallant said the Fire Department Auxiliary formed three years ago and the wreath sale was viewed as “just one of the ways for us to raise money for the Fire Department.”
“One of our members had gone to a Festival of Trees, and she said, ‘You know, we could do something like this, but on a smaller scale,’” Gallant said. “The first year we held the wreath sale, it exceeded our expectations. We had a lot of local people donating wreaths, and then people would come out and buy our raffle tickets, which was a huge help.”
This year, Gallant said the auxiliary has “30 people committed to donating wreaths.” As the sale approaches, “more people start bringing in wreaths.”
“We usually have a dozen or so that come in closer to the sale,” she added.
The wreath sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. all four days. Each day of the sale the auxiliary sells raffle tickets to people who wish to buy certain wreaths.
“We don’t often have any duplicate wreaths,” Gallant said. “Residents are pretty creative when it comes to making wreaths for us.”
Residents can purchase raffle tickets for $1, or 5 tickets for $6.
“If people bring in a nonperishable food item for the food pantry, they’ll get a free raffle ticket,” Gallant said.
