RUMFORD — It is with deep sadness that the family of Barbara A. (Barb) Breau announce her passing on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1:30 a.m. Prior to her residency in The Gray Birch Nursing Home in Augusta in September, Barb continued to reside at home following the pass of her husband, Edward, in February 2014.

Barb battled lung cancer which spread to her bones for the past five years. During that time, she remained an active cribbage player and never turned down an opportunity to visit a casino. She worked at a hardware store and shoe store during her younger years and did volunteer work at the “What-Not-Shop” for many years.

She is survived by her son, David Breau and wife, Linda, of Augusta; and daughters, Debra Maturi and husband, Christopher, of Tallassee, Ala., and Susan Breau of Rumford. She also has a surviving older brother, Peter Arsenault Jr.; and sister, Bernice Coffman. Other survivors include grandchildren, Daniel Breau, Jennifer Breau, Heather Boling, Kristen Maturi, Shawn Samuelson, Erika Brunner and Ashley Brunner; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Barb was predeceased by her husband, Edward; her brothers, Walter Arsenault and Vincent Arsenault; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to all who provided care in our mother’s final weeks.
