AUBURN — Carrington Miller led a second-half comeback Sunday, netting 17 points and dominating the boards with 22 rebounds as Central Maine Community College roared back from a 14-point halftime deficit to nip the Lions of Penn State Allegheny, 73-70.

A lifeless first half resulted in CM shooting 30 percent and 2-for-15 from beyond the arc, producing a 45-31 deficit. After halftime, a 14-6 run in the opening minutes reduced the lead to eight, and the Mustangs kept pouring it on to first take the lead with nine minutes left.

Elijah Barbour’s 3-pointer later gave CM a 65-62 edge. The Mustangs (5-1) struggled to put it away at the free-throw line but held on. Rob Skinner added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for CM.

In the women’s game, playing its third game in as many days, CM rushed out to a 20-7 lead and pulled away for a 73-50 victory.

Jenny Schlim led the charge with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. Sophomore Alex Rowe of South Paris dominated inside, finishing with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Abby Tilton, Macy Welch and Nicole Hamblin of Fayette all chipped in with eight points.

Mandi Johnston finished with 23 points on 7-for-20 shooting for Penn State Allegheny.

Frankie Lally of Auburn played a great floor game for CM (5-2), finishing with 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Lally also took one of the Mustangs’ six charges.
