1938 – 2015
LISBON FALLS — On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Loretta was called to be with the Lord and her husband, Bob, while at home in Lisbon Falls, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born Loretta Agnes Ostiguy in Troy, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1938, to Joseph and Margaret Ostiguy and was the oldest child of five. In her earlier years, she worked for Montgomery Ward and the telephone company as an operator.
She was happily married to Robert E. Robitaille on March 17, 1960. She was the cornerstone of her family. While raising five children, Loretta was an active and devoted member of Holy Family Church, which later became part of the Holy Trinity Parish.
She was the director of religious education for over 25 years and also ran the RCIA and RCAC programs while earning her degree in religious education. She was on the parish council for many years and was involved in most committees. She was a member of a bowling league for over 10 years.
She enjoyed ceramics, a passion passed down from her mother. She made many gifts over the years for family and friends which are still cherished today. She enjoyed knitting until arthritis made it difficult to continue. All of the children and most of the grandchildren have a blanket that she knitted.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Tilly) of 50 years; both parents; her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Geden; nephew, David Ostiguy; grandson, Nick Robitaille; and BFF since childhood, Helen Pillsworth.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard Ostiguy and wife, Pat, of Latham, N.Y., Paul Ostiguy and wife, Rose, of Cohoes, N.Y., and Robert Ostiguy and wife, Aggie, of Cohoes, N.Y.; sons, Robert Robitaille and wife, Arlette, of Lisbon Falls, Richard Robitaille and wife, Nikki, of Galway, N.Y., Michael Robitaille and wife, Lolita, of Lisbon Falls; daughters, Cheryl Robitaille of Lisbon Falls, and Kathy McLean and husband, Mike, of Westbrook; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, (cohorts-in-cruising) Nancy Ellison and Janet Robitaille of Malta, N.Y.; and brother-in-law, Tom Robitaille and wife, Helen, of Malta, N.Y. She is loved and will be dearly missed by all.
