FARMINGTON — A Lisbon woman was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison, with all but two years suspended, for luring a disabled man away from his Rangeley residence in April while she stole guns and medical marijuana.
Danielle Nelson, 26, pleaded guilty to felony burglary and theft charges in Franklin County Unified Court. Charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and stealing drugs were dismissed in the plea agreement.
She was also given three years of probation. Her sentence will run concurrent with an Androscoggin County sentence of two years she is serving on a probation violation, Assistant District Attorney Claire Andrews said.
Nelson is one of three defendants in the case.
She and Kevin O’Donnell, 26, also of Lisbon, and Steven Sharpley, 21, of Lewiston were accused of stealing a loaded Beretta handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, a black powder gun and another firearm, among other items, from the disabled man.
The man kicked Nelson, who had been staying with him, out of his house April 3 and dropped her and her possessions off at her Lisbon address she shared with O’Donnell, Rangeley police said previously. The following day, Nelson arranged to meet the victim at a mall in Auburn so he could drop off the rest of her items, but she didn’t show up as planned and she called him and asked him to wait for her.
If the case had gone to trial, the victim would have testified that when he arrived home on April 4, his house had been burglarized but his door was still locked, Andrews said. He would testify that the guns, two flat-screen televisions, medical marijuana that had been in a locked safe, cash and a Sony PlayStation 3 were missing, she said.
Rangeley Sgt. Jared Austin would testify that he responded to the burglary call. He would also testify that a witness told him that Nelson planned to steal the victim’s property, cash and marijuana.
Testimony would be heard that Nelson was located at a Lewiston motel, Andrews said. Police would also testify that Nelson admitted to being involved in the burglary and theft of items.
Judge Charles Dow prohibited Nelson from contact with the victim, O’Donnell and Sharpley. The two co-defendants’ cases have not been resolved.
Nelson also has to pay $680 in restitution, Andrews said. Ultimately, all the co-defendants will be responsible to repay the $680 once the cases are resolved, she said.
