1931 – 2015
NORWAY — Donald M. Knapp, 84, of Franklin Street, Rumford, died Monday, Nov. 2, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, Norway. He was a resident of Franklin Street in Rumford.
He was born in Nashua, N.H., on April 24, 1931, the son of Elwin and Gertrude (Lavallee) Knapp and attended schools in Byron and Mexico.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, then went to work for Oxford Paper Co. in the maintenance department from 1952 to 1993.
Donald was a member the 40 Year Club at the mill and a member of the American Legion. He was a Communicant of Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius – St. John Church.
He was married in Dixfield on May 20, 1977, to Geraldine Fitzgerald, who died May 11, 1991. Survivors include son, Jeffrey Knapp and wife, Elisa, of Dixfield, and their children, Trevis and Colby; a daughter, Deborah Pezzi of London, Ky., and her son, Nicholas, and his wife, Melinda, and their children, Jayden and Peyton; his companion, Marguerite Elliot of Rumford and her family; two brothers, Richard Knapp and his wife, Patricia, of Roxbury, and Leslie Knapp and his wife, Kathleen, of Roxbury; two sisters, Sylvia Touchette of Roxbury, and Joan Duxbury and husband, Robert, of Amissville, Va.
He was predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Patricia and Kathleen Knapp; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Touchette.
