Mystery photo for November 1, 2015

There were very few correct entries for last week’s mystery photo. In a random drawing, Elizabeth Shaw of Dixfield was chosen as the winner of a $10 Subway gift card. She drives past Bullrock Moose on the Village Green on Main Street in Dixfield almost every day and recognized it immediately. The popular tourist attraction was carved from pressure-treated wood by chain saw artist Ted Walker of Rumford. Bullrock is named after a local legend. The story goes that a wandering moose journeyed from the back side of Dixfield’s Sugarloaf Mountain, approached a formation known as Bull Rock and became so entranced with the beauty of the valley below that it lost its footing and plunged over the side to its death.
