Diaz is part of the Popular Education team at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center in Havana. The talk is sponsored by Harward Center for Community Partnership, is free and open to the public.

AUBURN — Fright Fest, 6 to 8 p.m., Hasty Memorial Gym, for children. Activities include games, costume parade and haunted maze, sponsored by Auburn Recreation Department.

LEWISTON — L-A Lead Awareness Family Festival, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Kennedy Park, rain location is Lewiston Public Library. Festival helps parents keep their family lead-safe by learning how to spot hazards, how to clean and get a risk assessment. Attendees can bring household goods (toys, dishes, etc.) to be tested for lead, and talk to experts from Healthy Androscoggin, the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, B Street Clinic, Pine Tree Legal, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Maine State Housing Authority and St. Mary’s Nutrition Center. There will be live music, hot cider, donuts, apples, face painting, craft stations and puppet shows for children.

AUBURN — New Auburn Downtown Business Happy Hallo-ween, 1 to 3 p.m., starting at Rolly’s Diner. Bring your children and trick or treat safely at participating businesses, prizes for best costume for children and adults, visit Boys and Girls Club haunted House and Spooky Cemetery, rain or shine.

AUBURN — Fifth annual Halloween candy buy-back and free family skate, by Center Street Dental, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Norway Savings Bank Arena on Turner Street. Candy will be donated to troops.

LEWISTON — Sunday Author Series, 1 p.m. Callahan Hall of Lewiston Public Library. Talk by retired Bates College professor Doug Hodgkin and his book, “Lewiston Politics in the Gilded Age: 1863-1900.”

LEWISTON — Free All Saints Day Concert by organist Richard Spotts, 6 p.m., Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Ash Street, on the Casavant organ, the largest church organ in Maine. Donations to restore the organ will be accepted.
