The office of mayor of the city of Lewiston is ceremonial, except in cases whereby the City Council is tied in its vote; then the mayor can vote and break the tie. The mayor represents the city at events and at other venues. The mayor can make suggestions only as to how and what the city can be implementing in the way of projects.
Ben Chin is merely pandering regarding his claims that he will have changes implemented that will be beneficial to Lewiston. Chin is young and full of energy and could probably do Lewiston more good if he ran for a state office where he could legitimately introduce and vote on legislation that would help Lewiston.
