MECHANIC FALLS — David George Cornoni, 56, passed away at his home on Saturday, Oct. 17, after a long illness.
He was born on March 23, 1959, in Meriden, Conn., the son of Ronald B. and Anita V. Belanger Cornoni. David attended Greene Central School and Leavitt Area High School before joining the U.S. Marine Corps with several cousins in the “buddy system.”
Later, he enrolled and graduated from the Job Corps Program in Boston, Mass., as a mechanic. He eventually made his home in Mechanic Falls, where he enjoyed working seasonally in both Maine and Connecticut, doing tree work and working on vehicles with family and friends. Dave was our “Mountain Man,” Tree Troll and a true Main-ha.
He is survived by his mother, Anita of Greene; three sisters, Robyn Edmunds of Pottstown, Pa., Brenda Cornoni of Greene, and Rhonda Edwards and her husband, Randy, of Minot; John Q. Edmunds of Lansing, Mich.; two nieces, Shawna Kincaide of Leesburg, Va. and Randi Edwards of Norway; a nephew, Jonathan Edmunds of Leesburg, Va.; two great-nieces and two great-nephews, Nakoa Edmunds, Seven Kincaide, Queen Kincaide and Sadie Francis; and his fiancee, Jana Stringari of Minot.
David was predeceased by his father, Ronald; and nephew, Levi Blake Edwards.
Dave will be missed by many Belanger and Cornoni aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who loved him deeply. Our tears shall fall, but our minds will never forget.
