1934 – 2015

DURHAM — Blaine K. Footman, 81, of Durham passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 10, 1934, a son of the late James and Alice (White) Footman. He grew up in the area and attended local schools there. After losing his father at a young age, Blaine decided to go to work to help support his family. Later in life, on June 25, 1955, he married Constance Carey in Brunswick and the two started a family together.

For 38 years, Blaine worked at Bath Iron Works as a temporary light electrician. He was a third generation of his family that worked at the shipyard. Also during that time, Blaine served in the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff, who was then later promoted to sergeant. He also served as town constable and sheriff for the town of Durham.

He will always be remembered for his love and devotion for spending quality time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for the utmost amount of pride he took in the upkeep of his yard and landscaping at home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Constance Footman of Durham; his children, Kathleen Jewett and her husband, Clayton, of Farmington, N.H., and Pamela Footman of Lisbon Falls; and a sister; Eleanor Harrington of Portsmouth, R.I. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Christiana Campbell and her husband, Jack, of Brewer, Scott Coulombe and his fiancée, Amanda Botelho, of Farmington, N.H., and Anthony Fowler of Jonesboro, Ga.; as well as five great-grandchildren, Shaun, Payton, Jack, Aeva and Landon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three siblings, June Saucier, Lorraine Kullson and Richard Footman.
