1937 – 2015

JAY — Edward Norman Doiron Sr., 78, a resident of Jay, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Oct. 11, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 6, 1937, in Livermore Falls, the son of George Doiron and Ida (Blanchette) Doiron. He was a 1954 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On May 10, 1958, he married Patricia Madeliene Jacques at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.

Edward began his working career at the Otis paper mill and worked briefly at the state liquor store in Livermore Falls and for Bass Shoe in Wilton. In 1965, he began working at International Paper Co., where he was involved with the startup of all five machines at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay. He retired from the mill in 1999. He also sold real estate and was a selectman for the town of Jay. Edward was a member of the Quarter-Century Society at International Paper, a communicant at St. Rose of Lima Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a charter member at Hillside Sports Club.

Edward was an avid Red Sox fan and for many years, he was a champion candlepin bowler. He enjoyed playing cribbage and cards with his friends. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of them.

Edward and Patricia enjoyed spending time in Cocoa Beach, Fla., during the winter.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Doiron of Jay; children, Ronald Doiron and his wife, Svetlana, of Hartsville, S.C., Edward Doiron Jr. and his wife, Dorothea, of Turner, Diane Doiron of Auburn, and Tom Doiron of Jay; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Lisa, Heidi, Valeri, Lauren, Rachel, Trevor and Mallory; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Rita Cameron of Sebastian, Fla.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Robert Doiron.
