SANFORD (AP) — Police say a man escaped after he was hit by a car following a convenience store robbery in southwestern Maine.
Police say the man walked into a convenience store Sunday afternoon with a handgun and demanded cash in Sanford, located about 30 miles southwest of Portland. The man was donning a Bruins sweatshirt, jeans, and an orange knit hat pulled over his face with eye holes cut out.
Witnesses told police that he tried to flee, but was hit by a car and lost a sneaker. He continued running and got into a white Ford sedan with a man and woman and drove off.
