1926 – 2015
RUMFORD — Jean Sedgeley Belyea, 89, of Somerset apartments, passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness, with loving family at her side.
She was born on Granite St. in Mexico on Aug. 15, 1926, a daughter of Clarence B. and Mildred F. (Richards) Sedgeley.
Jean was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1944. She married Claude J. Belyea on May 27, 1946, and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage; he passed away on Oct. 24, 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Jean was a former member of the Green Church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a former member of the Roxbury Homemakers Extension.
Jean will be remembered for her Saturday night baked beans, homemade bread and pies. Jean looked forward to her Tuesday get-togethers at McDonald’s with all of her special friends. She was an avid reader, loved knitting, crocheting, wintering in Texas, and spending time with her son, Stephen, and family.
Surviving are her children, Claudia Comeau and husband, Don, of Old Orchard Beach, Vickie Young and husband, Randy, of Mexico, James Belyea and wife, Gail, of Peru, and Barbara Dolloff of Canton; a brother, Armand Sedgeley and wife, Anne, of Lakewood, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Claude; her son, Stephen; and two brothers, Albert and Richard Sedgeley.
