1923 – 2015
SOUTH PARIS — Robert E. Lavelle, 91, a resident of South Paris, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3.
He was born in Hackensack, N.J., on Oct. 31, 1923, the son of Harold Emerson Lavelle and Margaret Clarke Lavelle. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served for more than three years and achieved the rank of sergeant.
He received a bachelor’s degree in English from Montclair State University in New Jersey, graduating cum laude. He also attended Columbia University for a master’s degree in English.
Robert taught in New Jersey and Massachusetts schools before taking a position as a technical writer and editor at Raytheon Co. and later at Honeywell in Massachusetts.
In 1963, he married Geraldine Moulton Brady of Auburn, and settled in Sudbury, Mass. After retiring in 1992, the couple moved to South Paris to be close to his wife’s daughter and her family.
He will be greatly missed by Geraldine, his wife of 52 years; stepson, Mark Brady and wife, Patricia, and their son, Michael; stepdaughter, Cynthia Mingle and husband, Daniel, and their daughters, Abigail and Kathleen; and cousin, Pat Rodgers.
