TURNER — Today our family has lost our dearest mother, Carol A. Watkins, formerly of Winter Haven, Fla., and Turner. Carol passed away Friday, Oct. 2, in Suffield, Conn., after a long, courageous battle against cancer.
She was the mother of four children from her first marriage and two stepchildren from her second.
Carol was predeceased by her first husband, Ned E. Williams of Connecticut; and her second husband, David A. Watkins of Maine. In addition, she was predeceased by her son, Mark E. Williams; and her daughter, Dianne C. Williams, both of Connecticut.
Carol is survived by her two sons, David C. Williams of Suffield, Conn., and Raymond P. Williams of Turner; as well as two stepchildren, Melissa Watkins of California and David A. Watkins Jr. of Maine. Carol is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and a lifetime golfer. She enjoyed travel and spending time with her second husband in her spare time, as well as time in their shared home in Florida. Carol spent a lifetime working in banking, starting with the Federal Reserve in Windsor Locks, Conn., and eventually rising to vice-president of Fleet Bank in Auburn, where she remained until she retired from banking to private life.
Carol will always be remembered by her friends and family as a warm, loving person who always brought a smile to those around her. She will also be remembered as one who thought of the well-being of others, right up to the point that she went to sing with the angels. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Mother, and may God bless you with everlasting joy and happiness.
