WATERVILLE (AP) — Police have arrested a Maine man accused of taking a hammer away from a woman and hitting her in the forehead with it.
The Morning Sentinel reported (http://bit.ly/1QTXbJi ) police arrested Kevin Henderson, 40, of Waterville early Saturday morning and charged him with aggravated assault.
Sgt. Lincoln Ryder says police received a call around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, but the woman hung up. She eventually told responding officers that the man had assaulted her and that she armed herself with the hammer for protection when he allegedly grabbed the hammer and hit her with it.
The extent of her injuries is unknown.
Henderson was jailed in Augusta and his bail has been set at $500. He’s due in court on Nov. 23.
He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
