1952 – 2015
PALMYRA — David A. Roberts, 63, of Palmyra, passed away at his home Wednesday, Sept. 9.
He was born May 24, 1952, in Lewiston, the son of Albert and Barbara (Collins) Roberts. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1970.
He worked at several places in the area, including the Hartland Tannery, Osram Sylvania in Bangor, Hydrograss Corp. in Pittsfield as a parts manager, Edwards in Pittsfield and most recently, Walpole Woodworkers in Pittsfield.
David enjoyed camping with his family at the ocean and visiting lighthouses. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their camp on Great Moose Lake.
He and his wife coached a farm team baseball team for a few years in Palmyra, of which their sons were members. He enjoyed watching all of those children grow up and have children of their own.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doreen (Rice) Roberts; two sons, Jeremy Roberts and his partner, Melissa Jennings, of Hartford, and Christopher Roberts and wife, Alison, of Palmyra; two brothers, James Roberts and wife, Gladys, of Sebago, and Eric Roberts and wife, Barbara, of Leeds; one sister, Cynthia Deschenes and husband, Paul, of Lewiston; one granddaughter, Trinity Hunt; a brother-in-law, Ronald Rice and his partner, Louise Snyder, of Greene; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rice; and several nieces and nephews and their children.
He also enjoyed spending time with several other children, who were very special in his life, Alyssa, Katie, Zach, Shelby and Shane.
He was predeceased by a son, Aaron; his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Nettie Rice.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center and the hospice team, Kim and Bob.
