1915 – 2015
PORTLAND — Marguerite Maxwell Houlihan passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 25.
The daughter of Edward Maxwell and Virginia White Maxwell, she was born on Jan. 22, 1915, in Livermore. She was a longtime resident of Falmouth and most recently, she resided at Fallbrook Woods in Portland, where she received the utmost in care from a kind and professional staff.
She was employed for over 20 years as a textile supervisor in both Lisbon Falls and Winthrop. She enjoyed cooking, painting and playing bridge.
Marguerite celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year and was very proud of the fact that she was the oldest living resident in the town of Falmouth. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was married in 1936 to William Houlihan, who passed away in 1982. She is also predeceased by her two sons, James and Timothy Houlihan; as well as her five sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Erin Varuolo and her husband, John Varuolo, of Parkland, Fla.; as well as her great-granddaughter, Alexandra Varuolo, also of Parkland, Fla.
