CARTHAGE — Two local teenagers are accused of holding an underage drinking party Saturday night at their home on West Side Road, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Tuesday.

Deputy Andrew Morgan responded to a complaint of an underage drinking party at 11 p.m. and discovered eight people all under the age of 21 consuming alcohol, Nichols said.

Zachary Demars, 19, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol and violating conditions of release. He was also cited on civil infractions of a minor in possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana, Nichols said, according to Morgan’s report.

A 17-year-old boy who also lives at the residence was charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol and civil infractions of a minor possessing alcohol and marijuana, he said.

Demars was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington. He was released by the District Attorney’s Office on Monday, a corrections officer said. Demars is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Oct. 27.

Dixfield Police Department assisted Morgan.

Demars and two boys ages 13 and 17, of Carthage, were arrested in August and accused of breaking into a seasonal residence on West Side Road in Carthage and stealing alcoholic beverages and partying there, Nichols previously said.

Demars was arrested on a felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, theft and violating conditions of release, Nichols said then.

The two juveniles were also arrested on juvenile counts of felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief and theft. The juvenile cases are being handled through the juvenile justice system.
