NORWAY — Margaret H. “Peg” Davis passed away suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Stephens Memorial Hospital at the age of 99.
She and her sister, Mary, were the daughters of George and Bessie Hamlin Hill of Norway. Peg and Mary married two brothers, William R. and Richard W. Davis respectively, all of whom predeceased Peg. Their families remained close lifelong friends in Portland and, much of the time, neighbors on Pennesseewassee Lake in Norway.
She graduated from Norway High School and Colby Junior College in New London, N.H. An avid golfer, Peg was a life member of Norway Country Club and active in several community service organizations and clubs in both Portland and Norway, including the Portland Yacht Club, Women’s Literacy Union, charter member and past president of the Lioness Club, and Longfellow Garden Club, and also finding time to participate in multiple bridge groups from Florida to Portland and Norway.
She loved her kitty-cats, especially Angel. Her residence for the last, very pleasant, six years had been the Andrew House in South Paris.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne D. and Robert D. Blair of Scotch Plains, N.J.; three grandsons, Bradford Robert Blair, Scott Andrew Blair and James Edward Blair; a great-grandson, John Robert Blair; a niece, Janet Petersen and her children, Erik, Thor and Anne; and a nephew, Steven Davis, his wife, Jeannie and their children, Richard and Amy.
She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Davis; and brother-in-law, Richard W. Davis.
