1924 – 2015
LEWISTON — Rita E. Matthews, 90, of Lisbon Falls, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Marshwood Center health care facility.
She was born in Van Buren on Oct. 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Vaillancourt) Morin. Rita owned and operated the Kitty Korner Store on Main Street in Lisbon Falls for 30 years. She enjoyed helping people, feeding the birds, doing embroidery, going camping and her cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Ora M. Madden and her husband, Edward; her companion, Warren “Mac” McCrater; and her sister, Gertrude Hall, all of Lisbon Falls; Warren’s children, Melissa Chase of Sabattus and Warren McCrater III, Patrick McCrater and Timothy McCrater, all of North Carolina. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Christopher Stevens and his wife, Karen, of Lisbon Falls, Shelby Swallow and her husband, Ben, of South Korea, and Taylor Morse and her husband, Evan, of Bowdoin; her great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Dominic Swallow; and her loving nieces and nephews, Diane Clemens, Debbie Hall, Jennifer Clemens, Melissa Johnson, Shyanne Johnson, Adrienne Hall, Edward Hall and Christopher Baier.
Rita was predeceased by her brothers, Gilbert, Leon and Sylvio; and her sister, Yvonne Caron.
