AUBURN — Pamela Stowe has announced she is a write-in candidate for the Ward 1 seat on the School Committee.
Stowe is a retired gifted and talented teacher. Her career was split between southern Maine and Tuscon, Ariz.
She graduated from the University of Maine and Endicott College for Women in Beverly, Mass. She is the mother of Nathaniel Stowe and a new grandmother.
Stowe said she is willing to serve on the School Committee “for one reason — I value the importance of education,” she said. “I also understand the critical link between parent, school and student, and how this triad has a direct impact on a student’s academic and emotional success.”
There are no candidates for the Ward 1 seat being vacated by Peter Letourneau, who is running for mayor.
Letourneau said he and City Councilor Tizz Crowley knocked on Stowe’s door recently while campaigning. They struck up a conversation that no one was running for Letourneau’s seat.
“Tizz said, ‘You ought to run,'” Letourneau said. Stowe “made a fine impression on me.”
To vote for Stowe, residents must write her name on the ballot and fill in the empty oval next to her name.
