1948 – 2015
WALES — Patrick Cyril Vaillancourt passed away alongside his wife, Jeanine, in a motorcycle accident on Monday, Sept. 7.
He was born on June 21, 1948, in Van Buren. Pat worked as an insulator at Bath Iron Works and retired in November 2014, after 38 years with the shipyard. He served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart for his service.
He enjoyed his family and was known to be quite the jokester. He loved music and was fond of sharing his playlist with his co-workers. With his wife, Jeanine, he discovered an array of new adventures, including kayaking, four-wheeling and motorcycle-riding. He especially loved going on long rides on his new Harley-Davidson trike.
He loved boating and landscaping, especially when it included using his Kubota tractor. He was meticulous about mowing his extensive lawns and enjoyed working on his property. He was proud of their home and gardens — a home he designed and built in 1990.
He leaves his loving daughters, Lisa Vaillancourt of Dexter and her children, Bryson Bouffard and Dylan McLaggan of South China, Ashley Richards and her husband, Zach, and Amanda Pitcher; and three grandchildren, Colton and Jaxson Richards and baby “G”; a daughter, Jerri-Lynn Small of Mexico and adopted daughter, Christine Vaillancourt of Boston, Mass.
He is survived by his father, Gerard Vaillancourt and his wife, Alice, of Lewiston; his brother, Michael and his wife, Katherine Vaillancourt, of Georgetown; his brother, Duane Lafolette and his companion, Deb Jordan, of Auburn; his brother, Roger Vaillancourt and his wife, Cathy of Auburn; sisters, Sylvia Raymond and her companion, Dave Bosse Sr., and Dean
MacLaren of Lewiston; and two stepbrothers, Bruce Ritchie and Brian Ritchie, both of Auburn; stepsisters, Cindy White and Pat Willis, both of Lewiston; and his sister-in-law, Roberta “Roy” Vaillancourt.
He was predeceased by his mother, Rosella Vaillancourt; and brother, Daniel.
