I have several tapes of musical groups and indviduals, and if someone is interested in them, they may have them for free. Again, thank you for your help. — Bob at 207-782-6183.
RESPONSE: Sun Spots hopes you hear from someone who could use those 8-track tapes. That is very generous of you to offer them for free.
HI SUN SPOTS: I wish to thank each and every one of you who donated magazines so that I was able to take them to several nursing homes. God willing, I will ask for magazines again next year. Thanks again, Vi.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I look forward to reading Sun Spots every day. I started collecting the balloon festival pins every year. This year, I was looking at my pins and noticed that I don’t have the pins for 1994 and 1995. Anyone wishing to sell them at a reasonable price, give me a call at 207-786-9397. Leave a message. Thank you so much, Lucille.
READERS: Sun Spots has received another letter in response to a query about the former lives of the Guy B. Dostie Funeral Home on Lisbon Road in Lewiston. “A faithful reader of your column, Lisbon” wrote: To whom it may concern: I used to attend wedding receptions in the 1960s at a place called “The Villa” in Lisbon Center. When it burned down, the owner started it where the Dostie Funeral Home is now. A lot of young people went there to dance to local bands in the area and hang out — a very respectable place back then with no problems. It brings back memories.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Whatever happened to Dave Winsor on 99.9 The Wolf’s “Dave & Michelle” on morning radio? I miss him. — James R. via mail.
ANSWER: A recent press release from Binnie Media, published Aug. 24, states: “Binnie Media Country WTHT 99.9 The Wolf/Portland, ME debuted a new morning show today (8/24), launching ‘The Wolf Wake Up Crew with Andy, Michelle and Paul,’ which teams night host and eight-year station vet Andy Austin with current morning co-host Michelle Taylor. New to the station is Paul Hunt, who was discovered at a local comedy showcase. Austin replaces Dave Winsor, who exited last week after 15 years with The Wolf.
“Commenting on Winsor’s departure, Binnie/New England GM and VP/Radio Operations Patrick Collins said, ‘This was a hard decision and one not taken lightly. Dave Winsor was well liked, a very good employee and made many contributions to the station over the years. We have nothing but the highest regard for Dave.'” Sun Spots does not have additional public information but Dave Winsor is welcome to write to this column to let us know what he’s up to.
