1946 – 2015
CARMEL, N.Y. — Raymond Alphee Thibodeau, born May 31, 1946, a loving father, stepfather and husband, passed away at his home in Carmel, N.Y., on Monday, Sept. 7. He was 69.
He was born and raised in Lewiston, where he spent most of his life. He moved to Carmel, N.Y., in September 2012 to be closer to his young grandchildren, with whom he found great joy. The family remembers his big smile, hearty laugh and his love of golf, nature and playing cards with family and friends.
Raymond was employed by Pioneer Plastics in Auburn for 41 years and was very active with the Franco-American War Veterans Post No. 31, where he enjoyed his time as captain of their color guard.
He and his wife, Patricia, originally from Milford, Conn., were married for 29 years and enjoyed time together taking long drives, looking for wildlife, and whale-watching during the summer.
Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Rita and Alphee Thibodeau; his sister, Theresa Thibodeau; and his son, Raymond Thibodeau Jr.
Raymond leaves behind three brothers, Norman and Maurice Thibodeau, both of Lewiston, and Lucien Thibodeau of Auburn.
Raymond has two daughters, Ruth Reid of Lisbon and Melissa Thibodeau O’Brien of Wisconsin; and two stepchildren, whom he graciously treated as his own, DeAnne Chin of Carmel, N.Y., and Mark Tardiff of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; He also has four grandchildren, Emily, Ethan and Elliott-Raymond Chin and Amber Acord; and one great-grandchild, Julia Acord; He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
